Residential Driveway

Arnold Tarmac were instructed to carry out the excavation of an existing driveway and re-construct. The project was scheduled to take 3 days, which involved laying new Portuguese granite edgings, type 1 ministry of transport approved sub base stone, 60mm of binder course tarmac and 40mm of SMA surface course tarmac.

Due to the size and shape of the driveway we recommended using a SMA (stone mastic asphalt) tarmac, this has much more strength than ordinary DBM (dense bitumen macadam.) This decision resulted in no scuffing of the surface in hot weather and added the longevity of the driveway.
